excerpt from the news paper:

A 31-year-old pilot plunged to his death and a second pilot was injured Friday after two Snowbird show planes collided over rural Saskatchewan during a routine training flight.

Capt. Miles Selby from Tsawwassen died. The other pilot, 35-year-old Capt. Chuck Mallett of Edmonton, sustained minor injuries after ejecting from his plane during the crash.

Mallett was treated at a local hospital Friday, said Capt. Jay Walker, a spokesman with the air force's 15 Wing in Moose Jaw, Sask., where the Snowbirds are based. The accident occurred about 65 kilometres south of the base.

"I don't think 'dangerous' is the way to describe the solo manoeuvres," Walker said. "There is always risk involved in the Snowbirds show. That's why these guys practise and practise and practise."

When I talked to Salby to get his autograph, I asked him "How do you feel in the sky?"
He answered "Freedom!"
